The End Of The World Has Been Chatted About Since Almost The Beginning Of Time

By Alan Albrecht

Ancient Mayans made the news quite a bit last year. People were concerned that life on earth was going to stop. They felt since the Mayan calendar ended last December, then just about everything else was going to come to a halt. The end of the world has been talked about for a very long time and appears in countless science fiction novels as the main story line. These events have obviously never occurred, but there are many who feel that it is just a matter of time. Sooner or later, they say, we may have to learn to survive in a post apocalyptic world.

The apocalypse was discussed in the Bible. John mentions in grisly detail of people living in horror as they awaited their judgement. No one was instructed when this event will transpire. Lots of people have been seeking signs connected with the world ending since those days.

Many books have been wrote in recent times describing how an author feels these things could happen. These usually are works associated with fiction writing. There has been numerous books produced that this topic is known as a sub-genre of the genre of science fiction. These literary works tell of destruction which awaits mankind if they keep on living the way they have been.

The new tales were different than the story in Revelations when God sends sinners into the burning fires of hell. These various other stories give many causes of the demise from the world. A favorite event connected with destruction creators liked to create involved nuclear holocausts caused by aliens or humans.

A well known works associated with fiction was the War of the Worlds written by H. G. Wells. An actor named Orson Welles narrated this story over the radio during 1938. This caused a significant amount of panic since radio listeners since they believed that Martians had attacked the earth. There had been multiple reports in newspapers of individuals fleeing their residences and towns to avoid the aliens.

The authorities were not happy with what happened. They apparently sent police officers over the CBS studios to put a stop to the broadcast. Arriving a little too late, the officers took the scripts the actors used in hopes of avoiding repeating the broadcast. Some people ended up suing CBS because they felt so much mental anguish when they thought the ending was here.

The broadcast was repeated many years later by many radio stations. However, during these other times people were well informed that the airing was simply them remaking the classic 1938 telling. Some stations did this on Halloween for a few years.

People like to hear scary tales. Many of these tales concern the end of the world and precisely how life is going to be after the majority of everything is actually destroyed. The future will let people know if anyone is actually right with what will transpire and how a events will unfold. Until that time, people will only have to wonder how the demise of humans will occur.
